A tour for wine lovers who want to explore a wide range of outstanding wines. You will visit hand-picked wineries, enjoy tastings, and travel comfortably. Taste, Taste and Taste
Itinerary
Our Rioja winery hopping tour from San Sebastian is ideal for travelers who want to explore multiple wineries, taste exceptional wines, and discover the region at a relaxed, unhurried pace. Leaving the green hills of the Basque Country behind, we head south toward Rioja, reaching the area after a scenic drive of around 1.5 hours.
The day begins in the Railway Station District of Haro, a historic area where some of Rioja’s most important wines have been produced since the mid-19th century. This compact district brings together centuries of winemaking tradition, where classic techniques continue to shape wines with character and balance.
This private Rioja wine tour follows a flexible, hand-picked itinerary designed for true wine lovers. We visit up to three wineries, ranging from historic, classical Rioja producers to small, family-run boutique estates. Each visit offers a different perspective on Rioja wine, with time to explore the cellars and enjoy guided tastings in their wine bars.
For lunch, we stop at a local restaurant to enjoy a three-course tasting menu, naturally paired with wine. In the afternoon, we visit Laguardia, a beautifully preserved medieval town with narrow cobbled streets, ancient walls, and a timeless atmosphere.
Before returning, there is time to admire and photograph the striking architecture of wineries such as Marqués de Riscal and Ysios, two icons of contemporary design set among the vineyards. Rioja remains one of Spain’s most prestigious wine regions, known for its diverse terroirs and long winemaking tradition. As with all BaskMe experiences, the itinerary is flexible and can be adapted to your interests and pace.

What they say
"I did a lot of research before picking a tour company to help us plan our trip in Spain. I was attracted by their website and their price was better than the other companies I contacted. The company is small, so you are not paying for a lot of overhead but the service is just as good as the other larger firms that I have used in the past . My guide was professional, friendly, knowledgeable and helpful. He added a lot to our trip to Spain.. He was on time and his English was very good. I was very happy with our service. I would recommend this firm to everyone"AlexandriaUSA
"I can’t say enough about Andoni…fun, funny, informative, accommodating. He’s the perfect person to tour with and his pride for the area is so evident on his tours. He’s full of information and anecdotes and it a great translator when visiting places where English isn’t spoken. Andoni even went out of his way to secure a reservation for us at a restaurant in Getaria for a different day…above and beyond."LizUSA
"Absolutely fantastic tour – the Rioja wines are wonderfully unique and it was evident that each winery on the tour had been carefully selected (mix of modern and traditional) so as to provide a more fulsome experience. The lunch was similarly great, simple food but full of flavour. We were also extremely impressed with Andoni’s expert knowledge of the region. Highly recommend this tour."AlyseAustralia
"Had so much fun with Andoni on the winery hopping tour. The wines were amazing, the views were fantastic, and the company was great. Andoni was really knowledgeable about the varieties of Spanish wine, the history of San Sebastian, and the origins of the Basque country. He also helped us figure out how to properly order pinxtos. I would highly recommend this tour to others, especially someone who isn’t familiar with Spanish wines already."GlennCanada
