This Basque Coast gravel bike tour is a spectacular gravel journey linking Gipuzkoa’s green hills with the Cantabrian Sea A day of quiet mountain passes, coastal villages, local flavours, and those iconic Basque Coast views you’ll remember long after the ride.
Itinerary
Basque Coast gravel bike tour magic from the very first pedal stroke: after a short drive from your accommodation, we start at our Cycling Hub in Zizurkil, grab a coffee, do a quick bike check, and roll out towards Andazarrate, a quiet, steady climb that gently brings you into Gipuzkoa’s green heart. From there, we slip onto the calm tracks of Pagoeta Natural Park, weaving through forests, farm lanes and wide-open views where time slows down and the legs find their rhythm.
And then… the coast starts calling. The sea appears on the horizon and we glide down towards Orio, Zarautz, Getaria and Zumaia, stitching together smooth coastal roads with big Atlantic panoramas. We’ll stop when it feels right, for photos, a quick pintxo… Because here, the ride is never just about the ride, it’s about the places, the flavours, and the little moments in between.
In Getaria, we slow down for lunch and a well-earned reset — the kind that feels like part of the ride, not a break from it. If you’d like, we can add a Txakoli tasting along the way: a visit to a small, family-run winery to understand what makes this coastal white so special.
After lunch, we point the bikes inland again, climbing back toward Aia for a final dose of hills, steady, scenic, and never rushed. We’ll adapt the pace to your legs (and to how long lunch lasted…), then close the loop with a satisfying descent back to the hub
